Daytime Kids Jiu Jitsu in Azle: A Homeschool-Friendly Class Schedule
Not every family’s day runs on a school bell. If you homeschool, work shifts, or just have a flexible schedule, evening classes aren’t always the best fit. Good news: Annunziato Jiu Jitsu (AJJ) has kids jiu jitsu during the day.
The short answer
AJJ runs All Level Kids jiu jitsu (ages 6 to 14) on Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM and on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Little Heroes (ages 3 to 5) meets Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 AM and Saturday at 10:00 AM. Your child’s first class is free.

Why homeschool families like a daytime class
The Tuesday and Thursday 11:00 AM class is a homeschool-friendly choice. It isn’t a separate homeschool class, just a regular kids class at a time that works for families learning at home. Here’s why it can fit well:
- Time with other kids. Your child trains with the same kids week after week, which gives them a regular group to see and work with.
- Structured physical activity. Class has a warm-up, coach-led technique, and partner practice. Kids move the whole time.
- A steady weekly rhythm. Two set mornings a week can anchor your schedule, with Saturday as a backup or extra day.
- Midday is open. You can plan lessons before or after class without fighting evening traffic and dinner time.
Every child is different, and no class promises the same results for every kid. If you’re planning your own physical education for home learning, you decide how jiu jitsu fits into it.
Planning a morning for the whole family

Siblings ages 3 to 5 and 6 to 14
On Tuesday and Thursday, the classes run back to back. Your Little Hero trains from 10:30 to 11:00 AM, then your older child starts All Level Kids at 11:00 AM. One trip covers both.
On Saturday, Little Heroes (10:00–10:30 AM) and All Level Kids (10:00–11:00 AM) start at the same time. Both classes share the mat: the first 30 minutes focus mainly on our Little Heroes, and the last 30 minutes focus mainly on the older kids.
Parents can train too
Parents are welcome to train in our All Level Adults class on Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. “All Level” means beginners and experienced students train together. Older teens can join adult classes too: teens move up based on height and size, not a set age.
While you train, your kids are welcome to hang out at the gym.
What kids learn in an All Level class
“All Level” means beginners and kids with more experience train in the same class. Coaches teach the fundamentals and adjust for each child.
- Fundamentals: positions (where your body is compared to your partner’s), how to hold a safe position, and how to escape a bad one. Jiu jitsu uses leverage, which means technique and angles instead of size.
- Partner drills: kids practice moves with a partner at a controlled pace. When a hold gets uncomfortable, they tap, which means patting the partner or the mat to say “stop.” Everyone stops right away.
- Respect and focus: listening to the coach, waiting your turn, and taking care of your partner.
The Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday daytime classes are Gi classes. A gi is the traditional jiu jitsu uniform: a heavy jacket and pants with a belt. (Our Monday and Wednesday evening classes are No-Gi, meaning regular workout clothes.) For a first class, comfortable workout clothes are fine.
